The Competition and Consumer (Gas Market Code) Regulations 2023 (the Gas Code) commenced on 11 July 2023. The Gas Code’s purpose is to facilitate a well-functioning domestic wholesale gas market with adequate gas supply at reasonable prices and on reasonable terms for both suppliers and buyers. Section 34 of Part 6 sets out a requirement for suppliers to publish information relating to the availability of gas.
In addition, Australia Pacific LNG signed a revised Heads of Agreement (the HoA) with the Australian Government in September 2022 which underpins Australia’s East Coast LNG producers’ commitment to offer uncontracted gas to the domestic market, including to resolve the forecast potential domestic supply shortfall in the near term. The HoA sets out certain transparency measures obligations.
To enhance information available to domestic customers and for the purposes of the publication requirements under the Gas Code and the HoA, this webpage provides information about APLNG’s outlook on gas availability and offers and other historic wholesale domestic gas supply data.
